Making Walking at Lunch Your Priority

With many National "Walk at Lunch" events this month, it's time to grab your walking shoes and a friend or coworker to enjoy a break from work for a few minutes.

The American Heart Association sponsors events to remind people about the many health benefits of taking a walk. Tips include:

  • Bring your sneakers to work with you.
  • Wear comfortable clothes.
  • Take a friend or co-workers to pass the time.
  • Make sure stretch your muscles.
  • Drink plenty of water.
  • Move your arms as you walk.

An additional tip I try to incorporate into my daily routine:

  • Add your walking lunch to your calendar and consider it a priority.

Taking just 30 minutes out of your day to go for a walk is just as important as all the other tasks on your to do list, your health and wellness are worth the effort!
