What is coaching?

Coaching deepens our understanding of self. It is an avenue for changing old beliefs and patterns that are no longer serving you, your career, or business into forward movement toward the most fulfilling version of you. Coaching works with balancing all of who you are, with all of what you do.
   • Coaching is finding voice, focus & purpose.
   • Coaching is aligning your life with your wants, desires & aliveness.
   • Coaching is self care & kindness.
   • Coaching is finding resources.
   • Coaching is continuously coming back to your true self and priorities.

What will I get out of coaching?

As much as you put in to it : ) No really, if you show up ready to participate, the outcome is whatever you want to move forward on. And the quick list includes: greater self awareness, the ability to create and take advantage of opportunities, an inner calm rooted in the ability to be truly be present and value each forward activity.

Is it important for a Coach to be certified?

We believe it is. Currently, anyone can hang a shingle on their door that says "coach".  It's true that some people are born coaches.

We at Finding Your Moment are those people AND we believe in certification. Certification builds on a person's natural coaching qualities, creates skill mastery and illustrates commitment to being up to date in our profession. Certification provides the latest client resources and tools supporting best practice standards. As certified coaches, we are required to exhibit a certain body of knowledge and ethical practice, that without certification is unknown and unregulated.

How is coaching different from therapy?

Coaching is primarily about working in the moment to create and manifest the future. Tending to past experiences may come into play in coaching, as it is sometimes necessary in order to launch into the future, but healing the past is not the main focus. Coaching is about strengthening resources in order to co-create action steps and accountability.

As Coaches we do not diagnose, nor are we trained to treat people who are struggling with mental illness.

How long does working with a Coach take?

4-6 sessions until infinity?? Honestly, It really depends on you, your business, your ambitions and goals.

Where a single session can bring about an opportunity for heightened personal awareness and growth, an extended commitment to coaching can create long term change. Some clients find the value coaching adds to their lives to be an important part of their regular self care, and choose to continue to work with a coach in a ongoing way. Other clients may have more acute issues they want to work through and in these cases it can be a relatively quick process.

Either way, the commitment you make to coaching is directly related to the commitment you make to yourself.

Why are there so many types of Coaches, when only a few years ago it was mostly Executives that worked with Coaches?

Coaching grew out of decades of experience with executive coaching. This evolution was inevitable, as it became evident that coaching was a powerful tool that helped high performing executives bring their best selves into the workplace. The result was the creation of an atmosphere where work associates were empowered to lead with compassion and contribute with confidence, which naturally cultivated healthier work relationships. This lead to an overall general feeling of well being on the job and of course greater performance and significantly increased profits.

The positive change that comes with working with a Coach has become common knowledge and is now a part of the new working standard. The unexpected outcome of working with a Coach was the additional positive impact the coaching experience had on executives personal lives. Thus the natural progression of the coaching profession into specializing in life, careers and businesses, which brings all the tools and skills of coaching to the individual.

Given that life is busier now more than ever before in history, with communication and transportation at an all time record pace; the expectations that follow can leave each of us stunned to say the least and coaching allows our best self to show up in all areas of our life.

Are coaching fees tax-deductible?

How do I know if I need business coaching, consulting or both?

Finding Your Moment business services specialize in both coaching and consulting for businesses.

You need business coaching services if you want support:
   • organizing your thoughts
   • creating a practical and effective plan
   • prioritizing goals and being more accountable for following through on action steps
   • maintaining high motivation even in the face of difficulties
   • understanding how you sabotage your efforts (and figuring out what to do about it!)

You need business consulting services if you want:
   • the advice and experience of a business team who are successful small business owners
   • to understand the scope of your business planning activities and human resource development
   • to learn ways to manage and expand on your business success.

If you want help in both areas, you need both coaching and consulting. We strongly encourage clients to partner with us for both services, receiving the best of both worlds. In all cases, we will:     • ask thought-provoking questions to encourage you to look at business challenges in new ways
   • really listen to what you say. Not only to the surface content of what you are saying, but also listen for the patterns, beliefs and feelings behind the content
   • give honest feedback on what is observed
   • encourage task to do between coaching sessions for greater clarity and forward momentum.

Do your clients always know exactly what kind of business they want to start before they come to you?

Our clients often fall into three categories:

The first type of client is one who already has a business and wants to grow or expand to new areas.

The second type of client is just getting started in a new business, but knows exactly what business they want to be in.

The third type of client has several ideas for businesses, but they aren’t sure yet which one (or which combination) will work best, or if there's something that hasn't been thought of yet that might be the best fit.

Are coaching fees tax-deductible?
