Festival of Sleep Suggests Easing Into Habits

Today is the Festival of Sleep holiday.

While no one really knows who invented it, we can appreciate many of the notions behind the day of slumber including:

  • Easing into the new year and our newly rekindled motivations by slowly and steadily building new habits.
  • Maintaining our positive outlook on our resolutions.
  • Creating small action steps toward the larger goals.

One way that I eased into and maintained my habit motivations last year was by reading:

Better Than Before: Mastering the Habits of Our Everyday Lives. By Gretchen Rubin

I focused on one of Gretchen Rubin's "habit mastering" philosophies each month. I highly recommend it to anyone hoping for a bit of strategy and encouragement when sticking with new year's resolutions, goals, forming new habits, etc.
